One summer while working at the Not-To-Be-Named County Fair, we met a guy named Shawn. He surprised us all with his work skills and humor, and quickly became an essential member of the team. He even gave me his old multi-tool just because I said it was cool. His name was carved into it, but I took it anyways.
And then one day he left...no words, no goodbyes, just vague clues to possible answers. A year passes, and I get a phone call from him while on a break. He says he's doing fine and if I needed anything let him know. I said it was great to hear from him and that I owed him a proper phone call back, since I was busy at a rehearsal. I never made that call, and I regret it to this day. Soon after his phone number stopped working.
Shawn Greene, if you're out there I hope you are safe and doing well.
Also, I still have your multi-tool and it works great.
I created this track during my second year at CalArts. I used Ableton to create a "no-input" mixer and performed by controlling the feedback. The title comes from a piece of art by Don Nace, as well as the quote below about Shawn.
"I wonder if he's one of those awesome people that just passes through your life, you know?" - Brian Aquino
